Crayfish, Cape fur seals and Spotted gully
sharks may be encountered. Divers will
descend to a maximum of 12m so is an easy
dive for novice divers. |

experienced divers and varies between 10-25m. |
 |
The wreck of the
HMS Birkenhead lies at a depth of 30m,
off Gansbaaiâs aptly named Danger
Point. This English frigate sank in 1852
and 445 men lost their lives. The captain
ordered women and children to abandon
ship, coining the phrase ‘women
and children firstâ. This dive is
at 30m and is for experienced divers only.
Swell surge can be considerable at this
location, and visibility can be low. Conditions
