The next
Scientific Expedition is due to take place between 20 -
26th
September 2004. Please
contact us if you are interested.
In line with our overriding
policy of education and conservation, we are proud to
offer our new ‘Scientific Expeditions’.
Shark Diving Unlimited invites you to spend an entire
week watching, diving, learning and experiencing this
incredible animal. Accompanied by the Shark Diving
Unlimited team, including their own marine biologist,
and with the help of white shark researcher Michael
Scholl, you can get the ultimate white shark experience.
Visit our link to Michael Scholl’s website to find out
more about his research.
The aim of this program is to offer shark and nature
enthusiasts an opportunity to discuss, debate and learn
about white sharks with professionals, researchers and
like-minded people. The course is limited to a maximum
of 12 people for a more personal experience. The
structure of the expedition is centered on daily
excursions to view and/or dive with white sharks in the
Dyer Island area. Each evening, lectures and discussions
will be held. Topics include:
 |
General
shark biology and introduction to the white shark |
 |
Predatory behaviour of the white shark |
 |
Habitat
utilization by the white shark |
 |
Photo-identification techniques used to study the
white shark |
 |

of eco-tourism in shark conservation |

The expedition lasts for
seven days, with five full days of white shark viewing
and/or cage diving (these can be swapped for some of the
other activities above). However, since all activities
at sea are entirely weather dependent, we cannot
guarantee these five days. We can offer day excursions
elsewhere in the area for bad weather days. These are at
additional cost to the group:
